Education and culture: The Cyprus education system has developed very much. Students have access to primary and secondary education at private or public schools. Cypriot students receive higher education mainly in universities in Greece, Turkey, the UK, and North America. The culture of Greece and Turkey have a great impact on Cypriot culture.
Religious motifs are dominant in painting since the Middle Ages. The drawings by Helen Blake, the Kalopedi family, Arestis Stasi and Ismet Güney are also commendable. Cyprus Limassol carnival is held every year. Nikos Nikolaidis, Dimitris Lipertis and Osman Türkay, who have been nominated for the Nobel Literature Prize twice, are the most famous representatives of contemporary Cyprus literature.
Sports: in Cyprus the most popular sport is football. Since 1980, Cyprus has participated in all Olympic Games. The country won the first Olympic medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Pavlos Kontides, who competed in the sailing boat, is still the only owner of the silver medal.
Olympic Culture and Education Program is of great importance in terms of exchange of experience among schools. Secondary Music School named after Bülbül is one of the participants of OCEP 2019.
The School was founded in 1921. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Russian Federation, Polad Bülbüloğlu and prominent composer, Qara Qarayev are in the list of graduates of this School.
Within the framework of OCEP 2019, Secondary Music School named after Bülbül has been twinned with Pascal Greek School located in Nicosia, Cyprus.
