Country Fact Sheet: Georgia is situated in the South Caucasus, at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Including the capital city of Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi are among the biggest cities in Georgia. The official languages are Georgian and Abkhazian. In the list of countries by population, Georgia ranks number 133, with its 3.9 mln.
Education and culture: Education in Georgia is compulsory for pupils aged 6-14. The education system is divided into three categories: primary, basic, and secondary. Georgian culture has been influenced by Classical Greek, Byzantine, Roman, Iranian, Safavid, and Russian empires. The most significant representative of Georgian literature is Shota Rustaveli. Niko Pirosmani, Lado Gudiashvili, and Elene Akhvlediani are the most famous Georgian artists. The pearl of Georgian folklore, Chakrulo, is in the list of songs sent to space via Voyager 2.
Sports: Popular sports in Georgia are football, volleyball, wrestling, judo, and weight. After gaining independence, Georgia has participated in all Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Basketball has always been popular in Georgia. Vladimir Stepania, Jake Tsakalidis, Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Tornike Shengelia, and Zaza Pachulia are well-known Georgian basketball players.
School № 238 is one of the participants of #OCEP2019. School represents #Georgia within the Program. Today's event was dedicated to the achievements of students. The presentation about the culture and sports accomplishments of Georgia and #Azerbaijan was made at the end of the event.
